Conference Registration Form
National Career Pathways Network (NCPN)
The National Career Pathways Network (NCPN) will host its 2013 national conference at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Antonio, Texas, October 13-15. Be sure to register by October 4, to take advantage of the preregistration discounted rate. After October 4, registration will be onsite at the conference. The conference has a number of breakout sessions. The conference also has a variety of pre-conference workshops.

We are pleased to introduce two new members of our SFA grant advisory committee:
Nancy Shepherd, Ph.D., Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator for Family and Consumer Sciences, Stephen F. Austin State University, received her doctoral degree from Texas Tech University in 2013 in Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Her research interests include appropriate teaching strategies incorporating experiential learning, innovative curriculum delivery, teaching from a critical science perspective, global curriculum design and educational leadership, which resulted in the creation of teaching resources delivered in a traveling trunk through her company, Global Fusion Educational Resources ™. She teaches foundation courses in FCS, adult development and consumer sciences.
Before moving to Texas, Nancy taught at several institutions in the Northwest and worked in business and industry. She serves as the Director for the Economic Education Center located at SFA to provide K-12 teachers with quality professional development and curriculum materials for the purpose of promoting the seamless integration of economic education for K-12 students.
As an active leader in professional organizations, she currently serves as President-Elect for the Texas Affiliate of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and serves as the counselor on the national membership committee.
Chef Todd Barrios is a Certified Executive Chef through the American Culinary Federation. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Home Economics with a concentration in Hospitality and Institutional Services from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA. He also earned his Master of Arts degree in Adult Education from Northwestern State University. He joined the faculty at SFA in August 2011 when his family relocated to Nacogdoches for his wife’s work. He has been happily married for 17 years and has 3 beautiful children. Chef Todd has extensive foodservice experience in restaurant management and culinary arts. He worked in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, LA with the Brennan Family, Ruby Tuesday Restaurants, Al Copeland Restaurants, Chef John Folse, and The University Club of Baton Rouge. He is a member of the American Culinary Federation, and has won several awards in culinary competitions.
